1st Day of 2nd Grade to a New School

When the news about us moving came to Matthew, we were still in the Philippines. I had been thinking for awhile about how to break the news to him, for I wasn’t so sure about how he was going to take it. But then, one day, he overheard about the move from one my conversations with Hubby over Skype.

I gave him the confirmation that indeed we were going to move to Florida and stay with Grandma and Grandpa for awhile, which also means he’s going to transfer to a new school. Surprisingly, he didn’t mind the move at all. And he was excited to transfer to a new school. He did, however, have a little bit of a concern –

Matthew, to Hubby over Skype: “Daddy, if I transfer to a new school, am I going to be Kindergarten again? Cause I don’t want to!”

Hubby, aka Daddy: “No buddy! You’ll be 2nd grade.”

And he was fine!

(I think, it was a valid concern!)

He’s already met his new teacher last week. He said he’s nervous, but he’s fine while he anxiously waited for the school bus.

He has grown so much, so fast! 1st Day of school always breaks my heart. Sigh!

Another Bus Incident

And once more, Matthew had another episode at the school bus.

Yesterday morning, according to the bus driver, Matthew missed his stop at the elementary school. Matthew, since Kindergarten last year, just like the other youngest/smallest bus riders, sits at the front of the bus at the first or second row. So yesterday morning, after the bus completed its route from the elementary school to the middle school, then to the high school, the driver found Matthew at the front seat right behind the driver seat. Matthew was sleeping!

Matthew still made it to the elementary school in time. Thanks to the school bus driver who didn’t have a choice but to make another round back to the elementary school, just for sleepyhead Matthew.

Father’s Day

Father’s Day 2012, Daddy with Matthew (5) and Mark (2)

We got Hubby a hand-finger print painting of a tree for Father’s Day, made especially by Matthew and Mark. (I supervised by telling them where to press their painted little hands.) I think it’s worth mentioning that we made this while the babies were at the bath tub (for mess control!)

We are so blessed to have Hubby a.k.a. Daddy in our lives! Matthew and Mark ADORE him! He is … simply wonderful! He even got seafood (crabs and shrimps) for dinner tonight! 😉

Hubby (makes a face): “Mesmerizing? Not really. It sounds like someone has a belly ache.

I just love him to pieces, even MORE these days on his Summer break, when he is home and around us more … to make conversations like this.

Awful night! Mark woke up in the middle of the night, again. But this time he was crying and very miserable,…

Then this morning, I woke up to an awful dream. I dreamt, Hubby kicked me out of the house and then I lived with Snooki and the other ‘Jersey Shore’ cast. :O (OMG, I don’t know where this all came from. Hubby and I are fine and I don’t even watch ‘Jersey Shore’.)

It going to be a long dragging day, but I hope not!

Tough Monday and Rejection

Originally posted in Facebook on May 14, 2012 at 7:21am:

Just something I need on a Monday morning … NOT!

Sleepyhead Matthew peed on the toilet lid, the LID! (He said, the lid was up when he started peeing. I think, he’s sleep-peeing!) I had been delaying cleaning the bathroom. Now it’s not an option anymore. #MondayMorningSucks

It’s been getting even HARDER to get up for school in the morning these days, even though end of school is so close.

* School ends on May 24-25. Matthew’s Kindergarten graduation is May 24th. I am assuming no more classes after that. Hubby’s last day of this school year at the Military School is May 25th.

Matthew and Mark

Matthew (5) and Mark (2)

After posting this on Facebook, my Monday did not improve.

Whole morning ’til afternoon yesterday, I was comforting Mark, who must have sprained his arm, or pull a muscle in his arm, or something. At 9am, when he woke up, I changed his diaper and as I pulled his arm to lift him up, he started crying, like the real ‘I’m-so-hurt‘ crying while holding his left arm. I worried that I must have broken his arm, but there was no bruising, no deformation, no swelling, but he just can’t seem to lift his arm up, not even able to move his left hand, and kept crying! We sat on the couch, his left arm positioned on top of his belly the whole time, while he was in my arms like a small baby. A little movement made him start crying again! I just kept rubbing him, observing his arm for changes, made sure he’s not feverish… I was worried! The thought that it could be a broken lingered. Even hubby was worried, too, and kept coming home to check on him.

And then, at about 3:30 pm, big brother Matthew came home from school. All of a sudden, Mark got better! He started playing with big brother in his usual energetic self with every bodily function, including his left arm, like he never complained about his arm the whole day! How he got better so quickly just like that, with big brother around, is so curious! Hubby called him a ‘faker’! With just sitting on the couch comforting him, worrying about him whole day, and then watching them play together, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I wasted a whole day.

On a positive note, I am relieved that it was all for nothing, rather than for something worse! And I thank God for big brothers.

The night progressed. I sat with Matthew looking at his yearbook. As he was pointing to pictures of his classmates, he was telling me that this and that classmate wouldn’t play with him. I asked him why his classmates don’t play with him, and he doesn’t know why. I asked, “What do you do when they don’t want to play with you?“. He answered, “I play all by myself.” I assured him that it’s alright to play by himself. He said, “I know. It’s alright to play by myself, but it’s better if someone play with me.” This just broke my heart. I wish I had comforting words for him. I didn’t that time. I just gave him a tight hug.

Experiencing rejection is tough, but for myself I can handle it. But, for my kids to experience it is twice tougher for me to handle. Sigh!

8 years to a Lifetime

Michael and Charlotte's Wedding Portrait

Michael and Charlotte’s Wedding March 7, 2004, Okaya Catholic Church Okaya City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan

Read ‘Our Wedding Rite‘ …

It has been 8 years since I married a wonderful man, to whom I made these vows with.

I take you to be my lifetime partner
to be none other than yourself,
to have and to hold; for better or for worse;
in sickness and in health; to love and to cherish
both freed and bound by our love
for as long as we both shall live.

These vows remain true to this day, and with much faith, hope and love – for as long as we both shall live.

They say love is a plunge into the unknown. On the day I married my lifetime partner, I did plunge into the unknown, with both eyes shut. Marrying hubby, I forsake everything else in my life. I just have my love, myself and my whole life to give. And it was the easiest decision I have ever made. To this day, not even a flicker of regret, because he has continued to love me and brought me the happiest days of my life.

Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband!

My 34th Birthday

On my 34th birthday a few days ago, Mark and I visited Matthew in school. There was what you call, “Muffins with Moms” where moms visit their kids and have muffins with them. Matthew was so happy. He always ask me to visit him in school.

On top of that, we have photos taken which I am so happy with. (I am always the one holding the camera, and have very few pictures of myself with the kids.) This was one of those very few photo opportunities, and I am so happy at how our photo turned out.

My 34th Birthday

Originally posted in Facebook on March 2 at 7:29pm:

I blew my ’34’ birthday candles! We are having cake for dessert (that) tonight. Thanks to Hubby (Michael) and the boys for the wonderful birthday cake and the cards.

I am SO blessed. I am SO grateful! I am SO hopeful, prayerful for more years of blessings; more love, togetherness and happiness in my marriage; good health for myself and family, especially for my boys; less greed and more prosperity for us and all my friends and loved-ones; and world peace for the rest of humankind.

Sounds cliche, but news about killings, shooting, and all sorts of senseless violence saddens me. As I blew my candles and made a birthday wish, I thought of my children. I wish they grow up healthy and strong. I wish for a greed-free, fanatic-free, prosperous and peaceful future for them, and all the children of the world.

Mark

… did NOT make it to the potty chair in time for the 2nd consecutive day, within more than a week into potty training. BIG SIGH!

… has runny nose for a few days already.

Matthew

… is home on a school day! He threw up at the school bus, so the bus driver decided to turned back to drop him off, just a few minutes after being picked up for school. Sigh! Apparently, he is sick, had a few trips to the bathroom and a few more accidents after that. (I didn’t see any symptoms previously to suspect that he will be sick. OR I would have considered to have him stay home to begin with.)

When I emailed his teacher, telling her about incident at the bus and that I decided that he stay home for the rest of the day (just in case there will be more accidents), she responded with a “thank you … for keeping the germs at home“!

Hubby

… received a phone call from me during a meeting, but, otherwise, a regular work day for him. (Good for him!)

I

… trying to cope with 2 babies home and sick!

… got a welcomed phone call from Mother-in-law.

… hate potty training, but, HAVE to get better at reading Mark’s signs for #2 (bowel movement), so we can move on with potty training well. He is still on his diapers, so he is not making a a lot of mess when he skips the potty chair, but I really want him to already get the habit of sitting on the potty chair.

… had to find a good position to rock Mark to sleep. With runny nose, he can’t breathe, so he keeps waking up!

… cleaned the carpet that Matthew puked on.

Times like this, being a mom can be SO GROSS!

Yesterday, Thursday, September 22, 2011 …

Matthew

… got a visit in school from Mommy and Daddy! He was happy to see us and showed off to us his play-doh creation.

Hubby and I was in Matthew’s school for meetings with his teacher and other school officials for Matthew’s progress report and evaluations. Except for a few concerns, he is doing great in school!

Mark

… was bitten by a bug!

Mark's Bug Bitten Face

Mark's Bug Bitten Face

While Mark and I waited outside for his big brother Matthew to come home from school, a bug bit him just below his right eye. Thank goodness, the bug didn’t get his eyeball. And since then, he had puffy eyes. Only then, I found out that there is a yellowjacket nest right outside the front door!

He kept me up last night by waking up and crying every hour last night, and couldn’t go back to sleep. He most probably slept on his swollen face or made wrong moves that tugs and pulls his swollen skin and hurts him while sleeping. And this morning when he woke up, he looked so awful with a bigger puff on his right side.

Hubby

… had his very first day-off after 8-long weeks of no day-offs! But it was still a long day for him, as we had to meet with Matthew’s teacher in school in the morning, and running errands to fix his golf cart in the afternoon. Big sigh for hubby!

I

… found out, from our visit to Matthew, why he smells when he comes home from school. When we found him in their classroom, his class just had P.E. He was all sweaty, more sweaty than all his classmates! Apparently, he plays hard during P.E. – hence the smell!

… had been so sleep deprieved, until now!

Today, Wednesday, August 31, 2011 …

The house

… got a makeover, sort-of!

It was so fun to see all the overgrown branches of the trees around the house being chopped off!

Matthew

… missed the school bus and was tardy for school for the very first time this morning!

I am still banging my head on the wall, and kicking myself in the butt! I swear we were right on track with our morning schedule. I still can’t believe that we missed the school bus this morning.

Cracked

Mark slammed-closed my laptop a month ago! When I opened it, the monitor was cracked! Since then, I have been using this laptop with a regular monitor through external output, which overheats the laptop! It is really sad to use this laptop these days. Sigh!

Mark

… at nearing 16-months old, made me so proud! He was fussing so much while we were watching NickJr. Without much thought, I asked him to go get his shoes. Then he was gone for a few seconds, came back holding his OWN shoes, not random shoes from our cluttered shoerack but his own shoes. I didn’t think Mark could do that now. He probably just really wanted to get out of the house!

Hubby

… is researching for a top model laptop, to replace his old one!

Hint, Hint! I need a new laptop too, as the one I am using now has cracked monitor. I have to hook it up to an external monitor! But then, what I really want is High-Speed internet!

I

… feel like I’ve lost my groove in blogging, but I’m trying to get it back. Hence, this post.

The Pirate Party

This is Matthew when he turned 1 year old in 2007. We were still living in Japan then. It was just the three of us, hubby, me and Baby Matthew, who celebrated his 1st birthday, but we did it in style!

Matthew

… watched one of his favorite cartons in French. The DVD came with French audio in the setup. How fascinating that watching the cartoons again in French that time delighted him so much. It’s like he was watching it again for the first time.

Mark's Arms Up

Baby Mark

… followed me around while I was hand-vacuuming the carpet. I am trying to beat him from picking up crumbs and pieces of stuffs off the carpets, because anything he picks up goes directly to his mouth.

… had been showing off his skills, raising his arms and clapping his hands on command.

Hubby

… had a quiet day at work. It had been a challenging passed few days for him at work at the military school. He had been coming home so exhausted, because a few cadets decided to go out of their minds. I am glad he had a quiet Friday.

… played with our 2 boys at bedtime. Matthew and Baby Mark can’t get enough of their daddy.

I

… am so sore in my shoulders and back from ‘stuff toy’ fight Matthew and I played. I was beating him but he doesn’t tire out. I ended up being the one, asking for time-out all the time, from being sore and tired. While he kept asking “Do it again! Do it again!

… am relieved. I got my birth control shots good for 3 more months even if it’s going to mess me up again. FYI for those concerned, hubby and I, equally, don’t have any desire to be pregnant again, at of this time or ever.

This is definitely one of those great Fridays!

On Monday, November 15, 2010 –

MATTHEW

… tearfully ate a bunch of carrots! I swear every time I feed him something healthy and substantial, it seems like I am choking him.

BABY MARK

… finally has his 2 front teeth at the top showing. I am so excited. They are not picture ready yet, but it’s just a matter of days!

HUBBY

… had to watch a basketball game played by the cadets. When I asked him who won, he didn’t have a clue. Me, puzzled. He did imply beforehand that he didn’t want to watch the game.

I

… updated my digital photo frame. 3 months worth of good pictures, now in the digital photo frame. Yoohoo!

It was a productive day for me at least!
