Enjoying the Gifts

It’s so unfortunate that Matthew didn’t have his daddy around for his 2nd Birthday. Dear hubby is in Alabama. He can’t get away from his new job, for there is something going on at the military academy he is working for.

However, Matthew has me and his beloved Grandma and Pop to celebrate his turning 2-years old. We also invited my in-laws’ long time friends Ms. Barbra and her hubby Mr. Michael, who are grandma and grandpa themselves. After singing Happy Birthday song, it took a long time for him to blow his candle. The gift wrapped in Elmo designs are so irresistable. He kept saying ‘Elmo’ and just couldn’t focus on blowing the candle. With a little help, he finally did.

I prepared a humble meal of Chicken Alfredo and Ham, which Matthew didn’t care for after eating (or making a big mess out of the) cupcakes from his pull-apart birthday cake. (His birthday cake is made out of 24 cupcakes, lined up together into rectangular shape, with frosting on top of it designed with Batman action figure and cave.)

The balloons are a big hit and of course the presents. I got him clothes and books, which he didn’t even look at. But the others gifts which are toys kept him busy. His favorite gift is the scooter. Matthew literally went to sleep with it.

Thanks to all the well wishers through TXT message from the Philippines, and through emails and comments. Thanks to Aunt Rosie and Uncle Greg for the scooter. We miss you! Thanks to Ms. Barbara and Mr. Michael for the toy and for coming over to celebrate with us. And of course, Grandma and Grandpa for all the gifts – clothes, toys, plate set and all the love. -Love, Matthew
