Lesson Learned From A One Year Old

On a nice weather – sunny and dry, I take Matthew to the playground. He loves the playground. He goes off strolling around, climbing and picking up stuffs that catches his attention. While strolling, he falls sometimes when he loses his footing or when he runs so fast for his own good and loses his balance. When he stumbles, he cries a little bit but most of the time, he doesn’t cry at all and gets up right away. I tell him to shake off dirt from his hands, which he learned to do by sort-of clapping his hands, then off he goes again like nothing happened.

While watching him, it amazes me that these little actions teach me a life lesson. It’s a lesson I already know and have learned over and over but I have a hard time remembering when it is needed. It’s to get up after falling and not linger on falling, shake off all the dirt - all the disappointments and frustrations, and move on.

  1. yeah sometimes I wish adults like us would be like the kids. They make frustrations and then quickly forgets it and move on. I mean, of course as adults we need to learn the lesson on these frustrations/mistakes but we should not linger on them much to destroy us, we should move on, faster.

  2. we, more often, savor the pain by thinking a lot.
